Music Service RJs Music Service is a Fredericksburg based interactive mobile DJ & entertainment company. RJs Music Service mission is to offer a superior quality entertainment experience for wedding receptions, clubs/bars, birthdays, and school events by providing clients with charismatic event hosts, the most popular edited music available, and other services unique to RJs Music Service. From the clients initial meeting to the last song of the evening, our VJs, DJs and support staff will do their absolute best to ensure every client is supremely satisfied with the service they receive. RJ RJ got his start in event planning in 2002 while enlisted in the United States Air Force. RJ coordinated events for his squadron and served as a member of base level committee coordinating events for his entire base, often times serving as the host and Master of Ceremonies for those events. RJ performed these duties from 2002 -2004 while still on active duty. RJ began performing as a DJ at the RAF Mildenhall Enlisted Club in early 2003 and continued until the end of his active duty enlistment in March of 2004. After returning to his home town of Fredericksburg, Virginia RJ continued his knack for event coordination and started a small promotions company that produced local talent shows, club nights, plays, and concerts. During this tenure RJ worked with local musicians, like the Jason Collet Jazz Quartet and Third Stream Giants, as well as national celebrities & musicians, like comedian Mike Brooks, and national R&B recording artists Jagged Edge, Lyfe Jennings, and Raheem Devaughn.These events reminded RJ how much he loved performing and entertaining people so he began to DJ again. Since then he has performed at several local venues doing birthdays, fundraisers, club nights, and weddings. For over 5 years he has been performing and has consulted for other event coordinators, helping families & couples make their events unforgettable, successful, and fun.

Denise Raised in the city of Fredericksburg, Denise is proud to be a product of local upbringing. Staying local, Denise attended the University of Mary Washington where she received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Growing up Denise's father made music a big part of her life. Her love for music has been growing ever since. A long time friend of RJ, Denise was very interested in being a part of RJ's Music Service. In 2008 Denise officially joined the RJ's Music Service team. Originally joining the staff as an administrative assistant, Denise has since gained skill in music programming and an interest in becoming a DJ. Denise takes great pride in getting to know each client so she can do her part to make their event an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

Heather Originally a rural Virginia native, Heather graduated with a degree in fine arts and education from Longwood University in 2003. Now residing in Fredericksburg, Heather is an art teacher for Stafford County Public Schools. What was just a hobby has grown into Heather's true passion. Her journalistic style captures special moments in their truest form, creating an image that speaks to you, that grasps the essence of a child, closeness of family, and intense love of a happily married couple. Heather joined RJ's Music Service in 2009 and has been the owner/operator of hdbrooksphotography since 2008. You can view Heathers work HERE

All DJs are the same Right All DJs are the same! Right?There are few instances in life that require making decisions as important as the decisions you will make as you plan the details of your wedding day. Choosing vendors and planning the details of your once in a lifetime day can be as nerve wrecking and overwhelming as buying a new home or a new car. Not to say that choosing a DJ for your wedding is exactly the same as buying a new car, but perhaps the approach to buying a new car should be applied to hiring the DJ for your reception. Wait a second, all cars are the same. Right?Lets say there are two seemingly identical cars side-by-side. Same make, same model, same year, and same color. Of course they both are your favorite color. Car A costs $1,000 and car B costs $5000. Which one do you choose? Initially you may be drawn to car A. Why not? Both cars are identical right? But when you move in for a closer look you discover that car B has a robust V8 engine under the hood. Car A, well car A has what looks like an engine from a riding lawn mower. Car B has satellite radio and a place to plug in your mp3 player. Car A has an 8-track player. The more you investigate, the more you realize these two cars appear to be identical, but they are drastically different. Like cars, DJs come in a variety of sizes, colors, shapes, and functions. The slogan of my new friends and mentors, founders of the Marbecca Method (www.markferrell.com), Mark and Rebecca Ferrell is, "Its not WHAT you do. Its HOW you do it". At a very basic level, yes, DJs are essentially the same in that we all have a basic knowledge and skill set to accomplish what we need to do at your wedding reception. What sets one DJ apart from another is the "how". HOW do they greet you at your initial consultation, or on your first phone call? HOW does it feel when you interact with the potential DJ? HOW do they answer the questions you ask them? HOW much do they seem to care that your reception is your reception and not theirs? Call at least three of their references and ask them HOW the DJ in question interacted with your guests and your other vendors. Ask the references HOW the DJ handled making announcements. Most importantly ask the references HOW the DJ made them feel from the time they signed a contract until the grand exit at the end of their reception. The "how" is also what influences what could be a drastic difference in price from one DJ to the next. Like car A and car B, if you stand three DJs side-by-side they may appear to be the same on the surface but one of them is an 8-track player, one is the satellite radio, and one is somewhere in between. Well call them the in-dash cd player. HOW a DJ prepares for your reception and HOW many hours a DJ spends preparing for your reception are calculated into how much a DJ charges. Keep the "how" in mind as you evaluate potential DJs and decide which one fits into your budget.Your wedding reception is a special event, an important event, and should be a unique event, as unique as you are. DJs are like your reception should be, unique. It is our uniqueness that influences the "how" part of what we do as entertainers and masters of ceremonies. So as you search for the DJ that is the perfect fit for you and your reception take a little extra time to "look under the hood" and "kick the tires" before you decide which DJ you should hire. Customer Service Holy Smokes! Talk about customer service!I was kind of lost in thought for a bit today thinking about customer service. I tried to remember the last time I experienced really great customer service. Think about that for a second. When was the last time you experienced really great customer service? Where were you when you experienced it? How good did it make you feel?After giving this some thought, I can honestly say I do not remember the last time I received really great customer service. Most of my fairly recent customer service experiences have been just ok. Nothing really stands out. The thing that does stand out is when I receive customer service that is designed to be great but comes off a little fake or forced. I think this mostly happens in restaurants and places where employees receive commission. But why? Is it because caring takes a great deal of effort? Is caring hard work? I actually believe the exact opposite. I believe caring is easy when it's genuine. Its only hard when youre trying to fake it. I think weve all had our moments when we had to fake it a bit, and thats ok, as long as it only happens once in a while. I think great customer service is a byproduct of caring. When you truly care about something or someone the people around you can tell its genuine. Contrarily someone can also sense when you pretend to care, or if youre trying to fake it. When you talk to or interact with your vendors how does it feel? Do they care or does it seem like they are trying to give the appearance of caring? Heres the thing about faking it, they can only continue the façade for a short period of time before their real feelings start to surface. You hired your vendors to do a specific job, but you also hired them to care. They should care about all of your concerns and problems, not just the ones that are easy to solve. As you vendor we should genuinely care about you, your future husband, and your special day. Awesome customer service is a responsibility that comes with the privilege of being hired to provide you with a product or service on your wedding day.I was listening to the radio recently and heard a story about Twitter and Morton's Steakhouse. The radio personality didnt go into great detail about the story but my curiosity was peaked from the little I heard. I remember thinking there has to be a "catch". Something doesnt sound right, did a company like Mortons really do what this radio personality said they did. Once I was able to get in front of a computer I did a little research so I could get the whole story. I found several sources on-line and they all said the same thing. Here's the story from gizmodo.com by Casey Chan:"Peter Shankman, an angel investor, was hungry right before he boarded his flight. So he fired off a tweet jokingly asking Morton's Steakhouse to meet him at the airport with a porterhouse steak when he landed. They did.It's an unbelievable story that only gets more unbelievable once you hear the details. Shankman was tied up in meetings that day and had a flight home that would have pushed his dinner later than he'd like. So he tweeted about it, asking Morton's to meet at the airport with a fat juicy steak.His flight was only two and a half hours long! The closest Morton's was 24 miles away! The man who greeted Shankman at the airport was wearing a tuxedo! (think about that, imagine that guy driving half an hour in a tux with a porterhouse steak in the backseat for a complete stranger.) Inside that Morton's bag was a 24 oz. Porterhouse steak, an order of Colossal shrimp, a side of potatoes, bread, two napkins and silverware. Everything had to go right for Shankman and Morton tuxedo man to meet and Morton's still thought it was worth it to try. A company that cares about customers, what about that!For the record, Shankman is a frequent customer of Morton's (and a man with over 100,000 followers on Twitter) but these are the sort of mini-awesome-miracles that couldn't have happened without Twitter. What an awesome story, I'm totally going to tweet at every restaurant I can think of before I fly now."All I can say is "WOW!" This is awesomely crazy good customer service! Now ask yourself this question, "Would my vendors give me the same awesome customer service?" Your wedding day is YOUR wedding day. You deserve the highest customer service imaginable from your vendors don't you? Is that what you're getting? No matter what stage of the planning process you're in, your vendors should be ready, willing, and eager to meet you at the airport with a Porterhouse.
